Dr. Carl Kraus, Innsbruck, 29.10.2014 – extract: ... It shows the meeting of two farmers on a road in Kitzbühel, a motif the artist used repeatedly (a horse can also be seen in the background). The figure on the right corresponds exactly to the one in Walde’s large-format painting preserved in the Rudolf Leopold Collection (amongst others, the title page by Gert Ammann: Alfons Walde 1891–1958, Innsbruck 2001). Despite its small format and sketchy execution, the present drawing produces a monumental effect due to its condensed design and emphasis on outlines.
