Tabriz Petag,
Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 410 x 320 cm, about 1920. At the beginning of the 20th century, the German “Persische Teppich Aktiengesellschaft” (Persian Carpet Joint-Stock Company) ran several workshops in Tabriz, where carpets in their own colour palette mostly reproduced ancient models; the carpets display the three circles of the company signature on the left corner of the ground, as is also the case with the present piece; pattern and colouring are reminiscent of so-called “Portuguese” carpets, fringe damage, otherwise in excellent condition.
