Silk damask,
France, c. 202 x 154 cm, beginning of the 18th century, the present textile, made up of six parts, was used as a decorative cover or furniture cover, it features a silk ground in warp satin technique and a design in weft satin technique, additional silk embroidery and silver brocading with silk core, the outer border made of gold embroidery was attached at a later date, bizarre and partly naturalistic designs with foliate stems and oval or globular flower buds (poppies?), secured with silk fabric and reinforced long sides on the back, extremely decorative hanging with some exposed pattern wefts.
