West Anatolia (Turkey), c. 140 x 46 cm, about 1700, Ottoman silk needlework in contour, flat and chain stitch on exquisite natural brown linen fabric, it is assumed that textiles such as the present one were manufactured by the bride as her dowry and were intended for ceremonial use as bedspread at her wedding, the pattern features an endless repeat of stylised blossoming stems with roses and lotus flowers, the panel is complete with original corner ends, minor flaws to the delicate ground, some staining, on a wooden frame.
