Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 494 (503) x 353 cm, mid-20th century, magnificent reproduction of the so-called Chelsea carpet from the 16th century at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London; the original, measuring 549 x 315 cm, belongs to the group of Sanguszko carpets, features a silk foundation and is very similar to the present piece in structure and size; blue medallions with depictions of birds on red background with vases, foliage, fruit-bearing trees, animals and a fountain as central field, little used with consistently full pile, brocaded woven finish on both sides, manufactured in very fine 60 raj (c. 735,000 kts/sqm), with signature “Khan Ali Zadeh”.
