France, c. 626 x 575 cm, about 1820, after a design by Louis de La Hamayde de Saint-Ange in the style of the Savonnerie carpets with rosette medallion, flower and laurel garlands on tobacco-coloured background, baskets of flowers, cornucopias and tendrils, extremely impressive is also the large, yellow-ground main border; with its large format, the present tapestry was once destined to a representative room and is among the most sought after smooth Aubusson carpets, wholly complete, mounted on new supporting linen, some repairs due to age and slight traces of usage in places.
