Martin of Troppau [Opava] (Martinus Polonus) born in Troppa, died 12.6.1278 Bologna, German chronicler. A Dominican friar, Archbishop of Gniezno from 1278, he wrote a scientifically weak “Chronicon” until 1277, intended as a reference work about papal and imperial history, which was often continued and copied (“Martinschroniken”).
