1952 Wurlitzer 1500
Facing strong competition that was offering a greater selection Wurlitzer had lost its market leader position. Instead of one staple of records the new 1952 1500 and 1550 models now had two, which dramatically raised the selection to 104 songs. They could play records at 45 or 78 rpm. Both models were continued over to the following year with only minor cosmetical retouches.
They didn’t get anywhere close to the sales numbers Wurlitzer was once used to. Only 4,500 Wurlitzer 1500 and only around 3,000 of the cheaper 1550 model were sold. Seeburg had offered a 100-selection-jukebox already two years earlier and therefore found themselves in the market leading position.
This example has been converted to 220V in the past and still presents itself in very good, cosmetically largely unrestored condition. However, we have not tried if it works and therefore it will be strictly sold as is, without any guarantee for functionality.
