1953 Wurlitzer 1650
The regain market shares Wurlitzer introduced a new entry level model in 1953. The new Wurlitzer 1600 and 1650 offered a smaller selection of only 48 songs coming from one staple of 24 records.
The difference between the two were their playing speeds. While the 1600 played records at 78 rpm the 1650 played them at 45 rpm. Both could easily be adapted to the back and forth, though.
Exact sales numbers are not known for that year, however, looking at the numbers from the following year one can guess that both models were not the greatest success.
This example has been converted to 220V in the past and still presents itself in very good, cosmetically largely unrestored condition. However, we have not tried if it works and therefore it will be strictly sold as is, without any guarantee for functionality.
