Goller’s oeuvre of just over 300 paintings revolves around the same motifs: it is the simple things of everyday life that invite his pictorial storytelling. Goller’s world of things seems strangely unsettling. The objects he paints are purely pictorial figures, time- and spaceless on the abstract surface of the picture field and thus almost lost. He reduces them to signs and yet leaves them something of their representational uniqueness.
