silver, 171 pieces, comprising: 12 soup spoons, 12 dessert spoons, 12 tea spoons, 12 mocha spoons, 12 ice-cream spoons, 12 hors d’oeuvre forks, 24 meat forks, 12 hors d’oeuvre knives, 24 meat knives, 4 spice bowls with 4 small spoons, 19 serving parts, all pieces with engraved monogram “LN”, silver weight 8860 g, knives with silver handles, master’s mark M & K = Stephan Mayerhofer & Klinkosch, Viennese Diana’s head mark 1867 - 1872, in original wooden box, (Lu)

Gift from Emperor Francis Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth to Court Councillor Leopoldine Nischer (called Nono) (1813 - 1883). Leopoldine Nischer was held in high esteem and much appreciated, especially by Crown Prince Rudolf and Archduchess Gisela, even in later years. The present cutlery set was made by Court Purveyors Mayerhofer & Klinkosch in a particularly heavy and high-quality design.
