A “Bramante” table, designed by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni,
1950, manufactured by Zanotta, Italy c. 1980, beechwood, maplewood veneer, height c. 69.5 cm, c. 300 x 125 cm. (DRAX)
This design is a refined version of the traditional type of table with trestles, with which Achille Castiglioni first dealt in 1940 in his “Leonardo” table (the production of which - unlike the “Bramante” model - continues to this today). The name has a double meaning, associating both the Italian Renaissance architect Donato Bramante and the Italian word for desire.
