Laszlo Gabor studied at the Berlin Academy under Lovis Corinth. His painting style was influenced by Max Liebermann and Post-Impressionism. From 1928 to 1935, Gabor was co-founder and secretary of the Wiener Werkbund. The artist took the motif from the Bauhaus settlement in Budapest by the Janos Hill (Janos Hegy).
