Enciphering Machine (CH.11a) Berlin c. 1940, black lacquered metal case, stamped 2318 at the bottom, rotor set with three rotors made of aluminium and Bakelite "I A01279/44 E", "II A 01277/44 E", "III A 01360/44E" , reverse rotor numbered "A 604", ebonite plug board, 24 plugs with cables, QWERTZ keyboard layout, battery compartment with 26 bulbs (numbered 15), matching (but not with different numbers) oak case labelled 871 (in the lid with black pen and under the Enigma with pencil) and inside at the bottom and in the flap stamped "10", in the lid 10 spare bulbs, note clip (stamped 1914), inscription "Zur Beachtung!" and two spare cables, also three indistinct stamps "Artillerie-Schule / ... / Schulabteilung", "Waffenamt / ..." and "... Reichsministerium...". Enclosed are two copied booklets (facsimile) "Gebrauchsan-leitung für die Chiffriermaschine Enigma vom 12. 1. 1937" and "Schlüsselanleitung zur Schlüsselmaschine Enigma vom 31. 1. 40". One hinge of the box professionally restored and with cracks, the Enigma slightly repainted and with a few supplemented screws. Size of the box c. 34 x 28 x 15.5 cm.
