porcelain, cover and body with taupe ground, finial with sculptural gold oak leaf wreath tied with gold bow, wide and narrow gilt edging and gilt border, encompassed by openwork oval with small blossoms, cover and foot rim with large sculptural oak leaf wreath tied with strapwork, body with wide and narrow gilt edging, the facing side with oval medallion with light grey ground and dancing genius holding a dove in her right arm, painted in white pâte-sur-pâte technique, surrounded by matte gold frieze on matte gold band, flanked by gold leafy tendrils with blossoms, gold branches with pearls and platinum leaves, round foot and square base, angular rising white handles with gilt edges, gold rosette and gold-heightened foliate friezes, height 31 cm, underglaze blue crossed swords mark, model no. H 20, model by Christian Gottfried Jüchtzer E. 18th century, (Ru)

Christian Gottfried Jüchtzer, sculptor, modeller (Meissen 1752-1812 Meissen), worked at the Meissen Manufactory from 1769 until 1812. The pâte-sur-pâte decoration technique was first shown by the Sévres Manufacture at the London World’s Fair in 1851. The application of the slip mass in layers on different coloured funds creates the impression of finely cut cameos.
