Hauswedell & Nolte, Hamburg, 28 May 2005, lot 1207
Private Collection, Austria

Compare:
Alice Strobl, Gustav Klimt. Die Zeichnungen, vol. IV (supplement), Verlag der Galerie Welz, Salzburg 1989, no. 3547

We are grateful to Marian Bisanz-Prakken for examining this work in original. This work will be included in her supplement to Alice Strobl’s catalogue raisonné of the drawings of Gustav Klimt.

This drawing of a seated nude is not listed by Alice Strobl, but it shows striking similarities with the “Half Nude of a Seated Girl from the Front”, Strobl IV, no. 3547, in terms of the position of the arms, legs and face. It is obviously the same model that Klimt drew in the same position, once dressed in a skirt and once nude. The works stand alone and bear no resemblance to any painting.
