Lot No. 238

Rudolf Polanszky *

(born in Vienna in 1951)
Synthetic Construct, signed and dated Polanszky 89 on the reverse, various materials a. o. plastic, PU foam, acrylic on canvas, 168 x 186 x 14 cm, over wooden frame

Provenance:
Private Collection, Vienna

The method as a vicarious ritual:
In each new work I create a new field of action, I multiply the surroundings of my works, constantly adding new relations as functions of evolving reflexes and variable standpoints. I prefer to use these as well as objects “external to art” and take my accessories from a stock of limited occasions. With my techniques and my approaches I try to draw incoherent parts into the semantics of my grammar and to obtain syntheses with the quality of discovery by using the parts created and assembled in this way. I proceed by simulating assumptions of experience and models of stimulus. This forces me to channel various modes of experience and to thus synthetically generate relations. As opposed to scientific methods this mode of verification is subjected to a sort of self-generated (internal) apparatus, which changes the models and hypotheses according to the results. If one is successful these symbiotic aspects define a new horizon of ideas. The idea seems to me to play an important role in the mechanism of production. This seems to be the central interface of my hypotheses and the monitoring processes within my works. My work ends where my idea of it becomes autonomous.
