Josef Maria Olbrich, a writing desk, Darmstadt, 1905 - Jugendstil and 20th Century Arts and Crafts

free-standing; sycamore wood and pearl maple veneer, partly stained black; the front with semicircular shape; the centre with one drawer, and two doors on the sides; the cassettes of the doors each with a grained cube frieze; black rectangular inlaying on the sides, on the back and on the table top on two sides; the centre of the table top with subsequently added black felt application; table top with all-around cassette-shaped inlaying; four wide angular feet, below four flat black fluted feet; the back with three columns; brass fittings with beaded decoration; signs of age and use; professionally restored; height 75 cm, length 120 cm, depth 64 cm.
