"Kauernde", 1914, drypoint etching on wove paper, the lower sheet margin with the red stamp 'Egon Schiele Posthume', plate size 47.8 x 31.5 cm, sheet size 59.8 x 42.5 cm, printed after the steel-facing of the plate and published by Avalun-Verlag/Vienna in 1919, Kallir 6 b, slightly browned and trimmed, the margin mostly with some defects, (RAC)
In 1919 the Avalun-Verlag announced the edition of this print comprising 50 copies on Japan paper, 50 copies on French laid paper and 100 copies on Massimilianicobütten laid paper. Only a small part of these editions was sold. The sold copies were numbered and on recto stamped with the signature stamp. The unsold copies remained unnumbered and unstamped. In 1922, 80 of the remaining copies were included into the portfolio ‘Das Graphische Werk von Egon Schiele’. Most of these impressions have the stamped signature on the reverse. The further remaining copies were sold later individually and most of them are unstamped.
