The painting shows Lake Udomlya with the Udomel Trinity St. John the Theologian Monastery where the artist worked in 1901. The Udomel region was once explored by Isaac Levitan for his landscape paintings and was also visited by fellow artists K. Korovin, S. Vinogradov and S. Zukovsky.
