A Pair of Figural Bowls (Cavalier and Lady with Bowl), Meissen Last Quarter of the 18th Century,
recumbent lady and cavalier in courtly dress holding a bowl, the lady wearing a double pearl necklace and with bare shoulder, the cavalier with coat and open shirt, the bowls with moulded side, decorated with lattice work and sculptural flowers, porcelain, white glazed; measurements: lady c. 16 x 28.5 x 18 cm, cavalier 17 x 26 x 21 cm, model design by Johann Joachim Kaendler, underglaze blue crossed swords mark with star (Marcolini mark) and incised model no. 1772, firing crack to the bowl and left elbow of the cavalier, chipping to the sleeve ruffles of the cavalier, floral decor of the bowl very slightly chipped, restoration to the lady’s right elbow and left foot, restoration the cavalier’s right foot and hoses’ bow, (GO)
