Late 19th century. This abstract and modern looking tribal carpet from the Fars province of southwestern Persia is one of a few surviving specimens from the 19th century. An imposing red-brown medallion with colourful apotropaic amulets on a honey-coloured ground. With several repairs and traces of usage and partly trimmed pile, completely preserved. (VP)
