19th century. Seichur is a settlement on the Samur River, near the Caspian Sea, in the northern Kuba region. The present piece stands out among the numerous hand-knotted carpets from this area because of its production in soumak technique. The colour scheme and pattern, with four detailed St. Andrew's crosses and a Georgian border, are strictly classical. With minor traces of usage and small repairs, deep pile, in very good condition.
