It is not enough to be an artist, the artist runs the risk of being consumed by his own art. the revolution devours its children and art eats its creator. the artist‘s journey to heaven becomes a collapse into hell. those who abuse art as a substitute for life end up in a madhouse or commit suicide. van gogh would have been better off getting married and having children, art is training for life.
