Bavarian rustic cabinet,
Tegernsee area, circa 1820/30. A marbled spruce cabinet with high quality gold painted carved applications, painted with flowers and depictions of saints Catherine and Joseph, as well as with mottos "So wie dise Rosen hier", "Bleib ich Treu beständig dier", "Rosen welken Marmor bricht aber meine Treue nicht". The cabinet has canted angles with pilasters, two doors, the upright carved with laurel leaves, and an original lock with key. 203 x 138 x 56 cm. In fine condition, somewhat rubbed in parts. (PZ)
