around 1900. One of the most striking characteristics of carpets from the eastern Ferahan region, apart from specific structural features, is always their bizarrely stylised design. This elegant specimen features ornate flower ensembles on a salmon red ground which is optically emphasised by a dark border. Manufactured with c. 360,000 knots/sqm, with minor traces of use and re-worked edges, deep pile.
