around 1900. A less frequently used motif from a sub-tribe of the Khamseh of the southern Persian Fars region is the medallion type with numerous colourful tribal ornaments and decorative motifs on a bright indigo ground. This specimen is made of pure sheep’s wool, typical of the genre. In good condition with several traces of usage and corroded brown.
