An Italian Baroque Console Table,


Rome 18th century, hardwood frame on cabriole legs, carved with partly openwork ornamental motifs, flowers and rocailles, gilded, floral decoration, cross-shaped stretcher, later stone top with marble application (“diaspro di Sicilia”), c. 95 x 160 x 75 cm, wooden frame of a later date under the top, some flaking of paint and signs of abrasion, signs of age and use. Very similar consoles can be found in the "Galleria degli Specchi" in the Palazzo Doria-Pamphilj, as well as in the Palazzi Colonna, Durazzo Pallavicini and Corsini in Rome.
