Otto Prutscher, a cutlery cabinet, executed by Portois & Fix, Vienna, c. 1933. Commissioned by Margarete Rous, who later married the (former) Count Theobald Czernin von und zu Chudenitz.


macassar wood, veneered, interior with thuja burl, veneered; hinged with drawers; professionally restored; chipped, heavy traces of use; height 91.0 cm, width 90.0 cm, depth 48.5 cm. (MP) This piece of furniture is an outstanding example of furniture construction with rounded contours. According to the owner’s son, Dr. Christian Czernin, Theodor Kremenezky commissioned Otto Prutscher to design this piece of furniture because he was a friend of his and was convinced of its qualities.
