The Italian-born architect Giuseppe Scapinelli emigrated to Brazil in 1948 and settled in São Paulo. His career as a furniture designer began in the early 1950s. Soon thereafter, he opened his own furniture factory, where he produced many outstanding pieces with impeccable craftsmanship for special homes. His furniture production is marked by soft shapes and curved lines, futuristic elements and a distinctive identity. Scapinelli’s expertise in ceramics, architecture and sculpture enabled him to become one of the most significant figures in Brazilian mid-century modernism, renowned for his innovative and elegant furniture designs.
