Duplicate of «Falco, sein Werk» of Johann Hölzel›s grave monument,


sculptural construction in the form of a 1/4 circle segment made of transparent bulletproof glass with a broken outer edge inserted into a cuboid stone base, surface and inscription as screen print with a life-size depiction of the artist from the «Nachtflug» concert tour, also screen-printed signature. Arched line with the also screen-printed inscriptions of his most famous works Der Kommissar (1994), Junge Römer (1984), Rock me Amadeus (1984), Out of the Dark (1996), Jeanny (1985) and Ganz Wien (1981). The grave monument, exhibited in 1999 at the Vienna Central Cemetery, consists of three parts: the obelisk Falco - der Künstler, the column Falco - der Mensch and the glass plate Falco - das Werk. For the stone part of the tomb, the stonemason Erwin Zechmeister provided the idea, the design and ultimately carried it out. Dimensions: height approx. 230 cm, width approx. 230 cm. Slight signs of age and wear. (MHA)

The present object is the only duplicate of “Falco, sein Werk” created at the time of its original creation, his work for Johann Hölzel’s grave monument (alias Falco). It was made in order to have a replacement in the event of possible loss, damage or vandalism. Since none of this happened, the work was auctioned off in 2004 as part of an international charity auction. The current owner was the highest bidder at the time.
