TOP TURN-OVER AND HIGH SALES RATE

Highly successful Dorotheum Auction of Classic Cars

With a turn-over of 4.3 million Euros and a sales rate of 95%, the Dorotheum auction of Classic Cars, held on 21st October 2017 as part of the Classic Expo Salzburg, turned out to be a smashing success.

The top lot of the evening was a 1952 Mercedes-Benz 300 S convertible, which went to a vintage car aficionado for 563,000 Euros while the auction's charming poster child, a bright red Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Zagato, found a new owner for 350,200 Euros.

Porsche had a strong presence at the event, including an actual race car, the fastest early 911 model among historic race cars, ex-Armin Zumtobel, ex-Walter Röhrl. The 1965 car was sold for an excellent

165,400 Euros. Another top-ranked sale was that of a 1960 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL which went for 148,600 Euros.

A true jewel among vintage cars was the Volkswagen Beetle “Ultima Edicion“ (2003), which had no more than 28,1 on its odometer and which saw the highest appreciation in price: bidding started at 9,000 Euros and the car was finally sold for 42,550 Euros.

The auction once again exceeded last year's record turn-over, making 2017 the most successful year for Classic Cars to date.
