Dorotheum’s April 2017 auction of 19th-century paintings featuring works by Andreas Achenbach, Oswald Achenbach, Carl Theodor von Piloty and Franz Adam, Francesco Hayez, Angelo Morbelli and Fausto Zonaro was one of the most successful of its kind in the auction house’s history.
Carl Theodor von Piloty‘s (1826 - 1886) and Franz Adam‘s (1815 - 1886) portrait of Elisabeth of Austria on a horse in Possenhofen achieved the highest price by selling for a breath-taking €1,540,000.
