Exquisite early Neo-Classical marquetry roll top desk,
South West Germany circa 1770. An elegantly shaped desk veneered mostly in plum, also with marquetry and contouring in partly engraved and dyed fine woods such as maple, burl walnut and sycamore, with 4 drawers, partly concealed locking, also an opening mechanism for the cylinder with 4 interior drawers, one with the year "1774", 2 secret drawers and book spine cladding. Ca. 110.5 x 94.5 x 52.5 cm.
