Baroque bureau cabinet,
Central Germany, circa 1740/50. A bureau a deux corps, veneered in walnut and with marquetry panels. The lower section has three drawers each with a lock and an additional lateral sliding bar lock for central locking, with a fall-front writing surface with one door and two drawers, and a two-drawer upper section with mirrored panels and a built-in clock, spring driven, striking the quarter hours over fusee and chain with 2 chimes, verge escapement and repeater, with a relief decorated gilt bezel with enamelled dial and glazed brass setting. Ca. 242 x 130 x 72 cm. Some heavy ageing, with parts loose or missing, the keys missing. (PZ)
