We are grateful to Claudia Salvi for identifying the painter. A certificate is available. Denis Parmentier was a collaborator and probably also a student of the still life painter Pierre Dupuis, to whom many of Parmentier’s paintings were originally attributed. Claudia Salvi is currently working to differentiate between the two artists’ hands. The conspicuous Italian influence betrayed by Parmentier’s work speaks in favour of a journey to Italy. His teacher Dupuis had travelled to Italy in 1637.
