Indonesia, Island of Sumba: a pair (2 pieces) of bangles made of ivory, with dot-in-circle decoration.
A pair of Sumba bangles made of attractive, old ivory that has darkened to a honey coloured shade (ivory naturally darkens with time). Both bangles have a very thick, rounded middle ridge, as well as continuous triangular decorative bands comprising dot-in-circle motifs, each passing from the thickened edge into the middle. This ornamentation is typical of ivory bangles from Sumba.
Excellent, old usage patina, no damage.
Height: each 4.5 cm;
Diameter: 5.5 cm (inside); 9 cm (outside). Between the 19th century and the first third of the 20th century. (ME) ASA
