Mossi, Burkina Faso: a large, pottery storage vessel, called ‘sim baore', for grain or water. - Tribal Art

A large, tall and thick-walled storage vessel of the Mossi, made of reddish, fired clay. For storing millet, drinking water, clothing or other important objects in the farmsteads of the Mossi. On the outside it is decorated with bulging lines in relief in waves and prongs, as well as with short, straight bulging lines below on the ‘shoulder’ of the vessel.
