A storage or safe-keeping coffer, with a horizontal lid, along with an iron clasp (without lock). Crafted from Himalayan cedar wood in seven individual pieces. It is pieced together and mortised (without nails). The front side is decorated with a three-part, flat relief made up of floral and leafy motifs. Both curved and sloping side pieces display charming, pointed crests. It is a perfect Pathan everyday object from the upper Swat Valley in the Hindu Kush Mountains. It has a good old usage patina. No significant damage.
