1: A large, crescent shaped fibula (‘Khilal’), traditionally worn by Berber women in Tunisia and Libya. It has polygonal ends and a lavish, chased and engraved decor: 3 rosettes as well as two fish and birds within leafy tendrils. The silver pin to attach the fibula to the fabric is missing (lost).
H: 18 cm; width: 17 cm; weight: 170 grams.
2: A robe fibula with a triangular, openwork plate, fastening pin and fastening ring engraved with a zigzag pattern. This type of fibula was formerly used in Tunisia.
Length: 13.2 cm, width: 6.4 cm.
3: Three smaller robe fibulae, probably originating from Morocco. The ornamental plates display complex shapes, some openwork and engraving. On one of the fibulae the decor is formed from soldered silver wire. The larger of the fibulae is decorated with four polished, red coral beads. The other two display one red coral bead each. All three fibulae are complete with fastening pins and fastening rings.
Length: 12 cm; 10 cm; 7.4 cm.
All 5 objects consist of silver of the highest quality;
