Ethiopia: a small hand cross, of cast iron, cut, forged and punched. Type: ‘Latin’, from Shoa (central Ethiopia). 18th / 19th century.
A small hand cross belonging to a religious leader of the Ethiopian Christian church. Made of cast iron, forged, cut, and decoratively punched with small circles. The four-edged, rounded hilt section in the middle shows good traces of use. A charming, small piece with old patina and no noteworthy damage.
Length: c. 18 cm; width: 7.6 cm (the cross alone, without base).
