A small ivory mask of the type of the identity or passport masks ‘Lukwakongo’, made of old ivory in typical Lega style (for a more detailed explanation cf. cat. nos. 123 and 124). A very charming, small mask of the Lega, with rich dot decoration on the front side. With fine, superficial cracks to the front and back due to age. One of the four holes to fasten a fibre beard is broken off at the back (secondary, later break). Otherwise no damage. The ivory shows an excellent, old, honey-coloured shiny patina, ranging in patches from light ochre to dark reddish-brown, as is customary with very old ivory. There is an inventory number, from a collection, in white letters, on the rear below.
