Ashanti, Ghana: an old, tall, bronze armband with a crocodile in relief.
A tall, conical armband, cast from bronze using the ‘waste mould’ technique. On the exterior the tall arm gauntlet displays a finely stylised crocodile in relief, between two planks. A very old piece with a small crack to the upper rim. Otherwise no damage.
Height: c. 13.5 cm; diameter: c. 9 cm (above), 12 cm x 13.4 cm (below).
Between the 19th century and the first third of the 20th century. (ME)
