for Eckart Muthesius, ca. 1928/30, prototype manufactured by Classicon, Italy, 1980s, based on the original plan by Louis Sognot, tubular chrome-plated steel, wickerwork, black lacquered wood, adjustable backrest, length ca. 200 cm, width ca. 70 cm. (MHA)

From the furnishings for the Manik/Bagh palace of the Maharadscha of Indore. The deck chair was supposed to be reissued by ClassiCon based on Sognot’s design drawing, but never went into series production due to the high cost. With the drawing from Louis Sognot, Rapidograph/paper, 50 x 60 cm, stamped: ’Eckart Muthesius/Architekt BDA, AIV/Regensbugrer Str. 10, 1000/Manik Bagh Palast/Indore Indien/Rekonstruktion Gartenliege/M=1:5’.
