Rare model of a Viennese Biedermeier salon chandelier,
Circa 1815/20. Known as a Schlangenluster, attributed to the Danhauser factory 1804-1838). A ring-like structure in the form of a snake biting its tail, as a symbol of eternity, made in carved wood, as well as the wood paste developed by Joseph Ulrich Danhauser (1780-1829) and later painted gold. The chandelier has 10 light branches, also in the form of snakes, and has a later electrical fitting. Suspended on later chains and with a ceiling crown. Height 94 cm, diameter 102 cm. In restored condition, without guarantee for electrical fitting. (PZ)
