China, c. 27 x 29 cm (incl. textile passe-partout), 17th/18th century, this finest Kesi weaving may have once served as clothing trimming, oval and round rank insignia were reserved for the emperor, his family or members of the high nobility, a swastika grid covers the entire field, on which hover bats, symbols of good fortune, lotus tendrils and a lotus blossom as the central main motif, the lotus flowers are partly overpainted as is typical of this group, the field and the borders are separated from one another by a border made of pressed golden wire, original rounded long sides, both ends trimmed, excellent condition, sewn on green silk fabric.
