China, c. 30 x 47 cm, 18th century, although trimmed short in the upper section, two cranes with clouds are still clearly discernible, the lower end of this preserved “tapestry” features rainbow-like wavy lines interrupted by high world mountains, large portions are manufactured in silk and the cotton pattern borders are covered with gold, some colour nuances were achieved by means of slight paintwork, as was otherwise customary, shortened all round, three vertical cuts have been stitched, mounted on linen and wooden frame.
