Yellow-ground Konya carpet,
central Anatolia (Turkey), c. 240 (250) x 144 cm, beginning of the 19th century, three vertical rows, each with six staggered polygons with hooks in the “open variant”, this design has been naturalised in the carpet literature as Memling gul, carpets of this group can be found namely in the works of the German painter Hans Memling (+1494) and date back to the 15th century, despite its old age the present carpet is still in very good pile condition, both the weaving finish and a large portion of the side edges replaced.
