Rustic coffer, known as a “Sockeltruhe”,
Probably Upper Austrian Salzkammergut, 3rd quarter of the 18th century. A Swiss pine coffer, on a loose plinth, partly marbled and painted with a saint and an angel, inscribed and dated "Gerdraut Vordereggerin, 1771". The front is divided with mouldings and carved corner ornament, with original lock and key, the fitted interior missing. Ca. 95x 161 x 68 cm. Some ageing and with parts replaced or missing. (PZ)
