1940 Dodge Six D-14 Business Coupe
For its 25th anniversary, Dodge indulged in a complete redesign of its model range in 1939. Streamlining and Art Deco were all the rage in the US car manufacturing as the 1930s were winding down. The models were once again revised for 1940, under the sheet of metal, however, everything remained the same for many years. An indestructible, side-valve six-cylinder engine was on duty there and did its job until well into the 50s.
In 2006, this Dodge D14 Business Coupe came from Springfield, Missouri, to Europe – first Germany, then Austria. As a representative vehicle, the Business Coupes features were quite sober, but they had a huge trunk with a flap leading into the passenger compartment, so that the traveling sales representative could also comfortably stretch out and sleep in it, if necessary. A few years ago the consignor expanded its collection of American cars with this Dodge, missed out on providing it a great service and enjoyed it during occasional trips. The Dodge still has many details that are captivating, like its streamlined shape, the “puckered lips” radiator grille or the painted Art Deco dashboard. The paintwork and interior have been renewed during its 76 years of his life, the mechanics anyway rank as indestructible. Here is an opportunity to own a pre-war car that proves how much further ahead America was in automobiles compared to Europe, and has the ability to amaze anywhere and at any time!
